Pathway that provides students with multiple clinical skills, competencies, and industry certifications needed for an entry level job in the Healthcare Field
The course covers basic medical terminology for Allied Health exploratory students.
It covers the most common word parts: prefixes, roots, and combining forms, suffixes, for all the human systems. Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Diagnostic, and the most common therapeutic procedures are included in the course.
This course is currently articulated with Los Medanos College, offering three college credits.
This is our Capstone course with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, first aid, CPR, data collection, and safety practices and ends with a thorough understanding of medical emergencies.
The course presents the tools for students to understand the importance of pre-hospital care and delivers a thorough understanding of the proper use of medical equipment necessary to provide appropriate care.
The 25 hour training/certification for FEMA Teen CERT is embedded into this course.
The competencies in this course are aligned with the National Standard Curriculum, Common Core State Standards, and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.
